Research

We investigate neural circuits and cell types with advanced optical and electrophysiological technologies, asking how the brain communicates in both normal and unhealthy conditions. Our work centres on two disease areas.

Research directions

Epilepsy →

How epileptic activity emerges from hippocampal circuits: the breakdown of normal synchronization and cross-frequency coupling, tracked with voltage imaging and electrophysiology across the progression of the disease.

Parkinson's disease →

How deep brain stimulation acts on the circuits affected in Parkinson's disease, from single-cell responses to population dynamics, working toward more precise and effective stimulation.
